Gala Show - Special Lecture - Intellectual Property

Peter Marvey`s a distinguished Swiss magician and illusionist, celebrated for his innovative approach to magic that seamlessly blends sleight of hand with spectacular stage illusions. Born in Zurich in 1971, Marvey’s fascination with magic began in childhood, where he spent hours practicing under his school desk, convinced that “everything is possible.” This early passion overshadowed his studies in architecture, leading him to dedicate his life to the art of illusion.

Marvey’s journey into the world of magic took off when he created his first illusion—a version of the levitating girl—while still in high school. Over the years, he honed his craft, eventually unveiling his signature piece, Dream Flying, at a magic convention in Perpignan, France, in 1999. This groundbreaking illusion not only showcased his talent but also introduced a unique flying system that allowed for unprecedented movement in bright lighting—a first in magic history.

As a pioneer in the field, Marvey has designed and perfected several iconic flying and levitating illusions , including the Flying Coach and a double levitation captivating audiences worldwide. His performances have graced various stages, including The Monte Carlo Circus Festival, The Opera House in Dresden and the Water Cube in Beijing.

Throughout his illustrious career, Marvey has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Golden Wand Trophy presented by Prince Albert of Monaco in 1996 and the Merlin Award for “Most Creative Illusionist” in 2009. His inventions and contributions to magic have earned him a reputation as one of the most original illusionists of his time. And likely the only illusionist ever to exclusively perform his own invented illusions. One of his most recent invention, The Diamond Illusion,” features over 2,000 LED lights and has left audiences awestruck since it is performed surrounded.

Marvey’s creative vision extends beyond performance; he has opened a 125-seat theater in Feusisberg, Switzerland, known as the Magic-House, where he regularly showcases his latest creations and hosts private events. This venue serves as a hub for aspiring magicians and magic enthusiasts alike.

Outside the spotlight, Marvey is a night owl who finds inspiration in the quiet of the night. His travels take him to warm countries, wild oceans, and vibrant cities, where he enjoys sampling dishes like green Thai curry and sushi. A lover of photography and quirky films, he is also captivated by modern dream homes and haunted castles with secret passages.

Peter Marvey’s approach to magic emphasizes in transparency and the power of imagination, often removing traditional covers in props creating a new experience for his audience. His philosophy is that true magic lies not in the mechanics of illusion but in the dreams and emotions they evoke. As he continues to redefine the art of magic, Marvey remains a visionary, inspiring future generations to explore the endless possibilities of illusion.
