Arturo Brachetti is a world-renowned Italian performer, hailed as the legend of quick change. In many countries, he is regarded as a living myth in the acting world and the visual performing arts.
A profound connoisseur of international theater and entertainment, he has combined his role as an artist with that of a storyteller for many years. He is also a thoughtful and passionate producer and stage director, working in comedy, musicals, and variety shows.
His performing career began in 1979 in Paris, where, as a unique quick change performer, he reinvented and revived Fregoli’s forgotten masterclass. Today, Brachetti is considered as “the
legend of quick change”, boasting a wardrobe of more than 450 costumes used in creating hundreds of characters. In his 46 years of career he has developed more than 20 different world- wide stage productions.
In recent years, he starred in the operas Barber of Seville at the Salzburg Festival and La Fille du Régiment at the Torino Opera House, as well as Peter and the Wolf with the National Television Symphonic Orchestra.
Since 2023, he has directed and starred in the musical Cabaret.
His latest one-man show, SOLO, has been running for nine years in Europe.
Awards and Honors:
• Molière Award (France) for Best One-Man Show in 2000
• Laurence Olivier Award (London West End), twice nominated, in 1983 and 2010
• Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres awarded by the French Ministry of Culture in 2009
• Commendatore (a Knight of Italian Order of Chivalry) awarded in 2014
• David Devant Award for Services to International Magic, bestowed by the Magic Circle in 2019.
He has statues of his effigy on display in Grevin’s wax museums in Montreal and Paris, and in the prestigious Charlie Chaplin Museum in Switzerland.
